STEREO PHOENIX Tools - Digital / Active Wheel Speed Sensor Tester

$99.00

1X NEW - Digital / Active Wheel Speed Sensor Tester with Signal Generator

This tool checks both the sensor and the vehicle.

The tool tests active digital wheel speed sensors that became the new standard more than ten years ago. They are common amongst brands. The sensors switch current states between 7mA or 14mA. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses this signal to determine speed and also direction on certain sensors. This tool detects the high and low current states the same way the EBCM does. This is done by slowly rotating the wheel with sensor installed, or waving the sensor over the built in magnet, if it is removed. If it doesn't toggle the current LEDs, the sensor is faulty.

When the 'MODE' button is pushed to the inward position, the tool becomes a signal generator. The tool is connected to the vehicle sensor harness and toggles current from the EBCM,  the same way a sensor does. This shows the circuit and EBCM are working properly when data is viewed on a scan tool. The harness and connectors can be wiggled while scan-tool speed is monitored. This makes it a safe way to reproduce conditions on vehicle without having an engine running and wheels turning.

*The tool has standard size banana jacks and can be used with terminal test kits

*Included is a pair of alligator-clip leads and a male/female jumper with the commonly used sensor terminal sizes.

*9V rechargeable battery installed
